Dust

Last week one of my good friends came over and de-dusted my house.  Like Amelia Bedelia, I think DE-dusting makes much more sense then Dusting. :)  I'm afraid she found dust in areas of my house I should have been keeping up on but with all the construction going on around here I have become a lazy house keeper.  Okay, that's a fib, I've always been a lazy housekeeper but nevermind IT'S CLEAN NOW!!! Loooove having a clean house... so why am I uprooting my family and moving to a barn in the country with LOADS of dust?  Who wouldn't?  Putting the duster aside I have been researching other barns that have been renovated into homes and I've found some amazing projects!
Don't you just love the high ceilings and all the rustic wood touches in this?

I love the use of large windows and the chandelier with all the open posts and beams but I cringe at the heating bill!! Check out more of this gorgeous barn

This is an old dairy barn converted into a house. Once again I love the windows.

Our barn is not old.  In fact I think it was built in the 1970's but it still was used as a horse barn. I'm looking forward to the loads of construction dust we are going to be stirring up soon!

Smores Please!

We spent our first evening out at the barn on Sunday roasting marshmallows and hotdogs. Yuuuummmy!!! The boys had so much fun running in the fields and throwing wood into the fire. After all the time we have been spending working on our current house it was so nice to sit back and enjoy some family time!  We got to introduce Matthew to his first smore and watch the wonder in his eyes when he bit into the warm chocolatey gooey center... okay now I'm salivating. :)

Love that face!  Danny gives the best stink eye ever!
The feel, smell, and sound of a camp fire is good for the soul.
My hubby, he always does funky faces to the camera. :)

Crazy!

Last Friday night we had some friends out for dinner and we took them to our new property.  The amazingly talented Katheren Gomez took this picture of me looking at our new life.  We are sooooo blessed to have the opportunity to take 10 acres and a barn and turn it into a home to raise three boys and a working farm.  We are also finishing remodeling a 112 year old home (more on this later) and selling it while starting a new plumbing business.  Crazyness!!   Do we know anything about farming? Nope!  Do I know anything about gardening? Nope!  Pray for us and follow the Barron's as I try to stay sane!
